Samobor - perfect break from Zagreb

Samobor is located 20km west of Zagreb and presents a perfect place for a day break from Zagreb or maybe even just form a lunch or a dinner break. You can reach it very easily. From Zagreb bus station buses to Samobor are leaving every hour.

It is a small charming town with a beautifully preserved medieval ambience with its historical buildings, churches, wooden bridges over Gradna river and several parks. It is a genuine town-museum. The town is full of restaurants, coffee bars, little shops and pastry shops. It is a hometown of the most famous Croatian cake: Kremsnita. But there are many other tasty local specialties, so don’t miss a chance to visit one of the restaurants.

Trg Kralja Tomislava (main square) is the heart of Samobor from where you can take a pleasant stroll along the river, tiny streets or up to the surrounding hills and famous Anindol forest park near whom you can find remains of the old castle.

Samobor hosts one of the most famous carnivals in Croatia “Samoborski Fasnik” www.fasnik.com which is held every year before the lent (February).

Accommodation in Samobor is somehow limited. There are two hotels in the centre of the town (Lavica and Livadic), some private accommodation and a beautifully settled hotel and a restaurant Samoborski Slapovi which is located 3kim outside Samobor.
